Well, we had a bit of excitement around here Saturday night. It was a normal night. AH was working on my sink project upstairs, FP was over at her mom’s or something. And I was snoozing upstairs.
And then - out of nowhere - I heard screeches, wailing, howling and barking. Lots of it. Loud. Right behind the house. And when I say it was loud, it was sooo loud I ran downstairs and hid underneath the waterbed. AH was on it right away as he knew what was going on. Coyotes. A bunch of them. Down by my lower grass area. That’s right. They were in my yard. And that’s not acceptable. I won’t go into details here as to what he did - mainly because I was hiding - but let’s just say he didn’t go out to confront them empty-handed.
So, he scares them off and things are back to normal, right? Nope. The doorbell rings. It’s the neighbor, Tommy Human. Apparently the coyotes were spooked over to his yard and now they’re around the front of the house. So, the two of them took off on the hunt. I don’t think they got anything because if there’s one thing about coyotes, when there are humans around … they hit the road.
The thing is, now that they’ve shown they’re not afraid to come this close to the house, that makes my trips outside this summer a bit more dangerous. As in, I can’t be escaping anymore. That I’ll have to be watched constantly or else I could end up in bad shape. I’m feeerocious and all that, but just me against a pack of coyotes? I don’t like my chances. Feh.
So, that was that. A good weekend, otherwise. Got some fresh vittles, treats and wetfood. And speaking of outside time? AH said I’ll get to go out today before the rains come in over night. So, I’ve got that going for me. Which is nice.
Have a great day, and I’ll see you tomorrow.

[...] Regular readers know we have coyotes around here. Usually they stay up creek and we only hear them at night. But, AH has seen one or two in the yard during the day, and let’s not forget the incident I wrote about a couple weeks ago. Acme Coyote Removal. [...]
